Academic Integrity & Authenticity of Student Assessmentns

At Australian Work Skill (AWS), we take academic integrity seriously to ensure the authenticity of all assessments submitted by our students. This is part of our commitment to quality, compliance, and genuinely meaningful learning outcomes.

To verify that assessment work is completed independently and honestly, we use the following methods:

  • Plagiarism & AI Detection: All written submissions are scanned using an external plagiarism detection database. If a task is flagged for high levels of copy/paste or suspected AI-generated content, it is reviewed by our team. Students may be asked to resubmit work or attend a support session to clarify expectations around authenticity.
  • Oral Questioning via Microsoft Teams: For selected units, we conduct a one-on-one oral questionnaire with a mentor or assessor. These sessions are recorded, and students are asked to confirm their identity on camera and respond to targeted questions to demonstrate their understanding in their own words.
  • Workplace Verification: For employment-based enrolments (such as traineeships), we also confirm competency with the student’s Workplace Supervisor. Competency is only awarded once the supervisor and AWS both agree the student has demonstrated the required skills and knowledge on the job.
